Air Guitar - It’s Time to PAAARTAY
This absolutely blew me away when I first saw it. It’s a 100% pneumatic robot that plays “Through The Fire and the Flames” by Dragonforce, which is the last impossible song on Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock. It was built for a robotics competition earlier this year, and I must say it’s pretty impressive.
What particularly intrigued me as well was that multicoloured light tower sitting on the speaker in the background. I think this would make a great accessory for anyone who’s seriously into Guitar Hero.

But it gets better!
The submitter tells us that this robot doesn’t simply play a pre-recorded series of notes. Instead, it observes the screen using a webcam and responds to visual feedback in order to determine which notes to play.
This is very well done indeed.
But some people still weren’t happy with the result. According to eyewitnesses, one of the attendees at the competition (pictured above in orange) managed to beat the robot’s score. (He’s like the Kasparov of Guitar Hero)
Details on this project are pretty scarce. I’ll try to do some research and get back to you with more detail about its design and construction.
